Peter Holt, Head of Employment, Pensions & Employee Benefits

Peter joined Cogence Search Limited as Head of Employment, Pensions and Employee Benefits. Previously he was a partner with Field Fisher Waterhouse, prior to which he was with Dewey & LeBoeuf legacy firm LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae and SNR Denton legacy firm Denton Wilde Sapte.

Peter's practice was focused on both contentious and non-contentious employment law, with particular interest and expertise in the sports, recruitment and retail sectors, the employment aspects of outsourcing and corporate transactions and whistleblowing. He was also recognised for his collective rights practice in relation to trade union and employee representation rights.

Peter's decision to move into the search environment was borne out of his in depth understanding of the recruitment sector combined with his extensive knowledge of the Employment, Pensions and Benefits practice area. He brings to Cogence Search the experience of a recognised and highly respected senior practitioner who has experienced life at a diverse range of firms, from niche to global firms including UK, European and US organisations. His appreciation of the requirements of law firms and lawyers themselves in the search process will add significant value to Cogence's Employment, Pensions and Benefits offering. He decided to join Cogence Search in particular because of their experience based approach to the delivery of legal search and the extraordinary quality of individuals within the business.

Christian Kelly, Head of Insurance

Christian joined Cogence Search Ltd from Davies Arnold Cooper where he was a Partner in their Insurance Litigation Practice Group. Within DAC he specialised in the recovery of subrogated losses on behalf of institutional and other insurer clients with a particular expertise in engineering matters related to the on shore energy sector and product liability matters arising from the food and beverage industry. He is also recognised by clients and his contemporaries in relation to product liability matters arising from the food and beverage industry. He has spoken at international conferences in this practice area as well as having contributed to many publications. In addition, Christian had a discrete practice area acting for a marine underwriting agency providing coverage and defence advices under various marine insurance policies.

Alec Harvey, Head of Real Estate and Private Client

Alec is an experienced specialist legal recruiter within the private practice arena. He set up the legal arm of Law & Finance International (LFI). He successfully grew the team from 2 consultants to a high performing team of 8 within 12 months. From LFI he was internally recruited to the prestigious legal search team at Longbridge International. He was then headhunted by the chairman of Bayfield Search & Selection to help set up their Legal search team. Prior to working in recruitment Alec has had 10 years of experience in the legal industry as a barristers’ clerk and Private Practice fee earner.

Grahame Warby, Head of Banking and Structured Finance

Grahame has spent much of his career working in private practise for major US law firms including White & Case and Sullivan & Cromwell in the corporate, capital markets and project finance sectors. His principal areas of practice were Project Development & Finance (Project Finance), he also has extensive experience in Corporate and M&A transactions, as well as European Competition, Capital Markets and Private Equity. His primary industry sectors were oil, gas, liquefied natural gas, telecommunications, banking finance and construction. In addition to these areas, he also spent some time in-house advising a major international steel manufacturer across all its areas of business activity. Grahame joined Cogence Search in 2010 to bolster our service delivery in these specific practice areas.

Andrew Hunter, Junior Consultant IP

Andrew is a Solicitor who trained at National law firm Addleshaw Goddard in Manchester, completing seats in business restructuring and insolvency, corporate finance, commercial law and pensions. He also gained in-house experience on secondment to one of the firm's leading clients, Co-operative Financial Services. Andrew has previously worked for the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Sports Dispute Resolution Panel (now known as Sport Resolutions (UK)) and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Law from King's College, London. Andrew joined Cogence Search in January 2011 to support the legal team.
