Nigel Lawrence, Executive Director

Nigel has substantial recruitment experience working within the support sector. A Psychology graduate, with a background in the equal opportunities arena, he was Managing Director of Haymarket Consulting Ltd which he grew to a team of 50 in locations across the UK. A founder of Cogence Search, Nigel has six years experience in recruiting for law firms and suppliers into the sector. He has extensive experience in recruitment of back office staff to the legal sector including in ICT, Marketing, Litigation Support, Legal Accounts and Human Resources. Outside of work, Nigel is actively involved in several voluntary sector organisations as well as in amateur dramatics.

Chris Hume, Non-Executive Director

Chris spent the early years of his career at Midland Bank International Division in London, and WestLB in Paris and Brussels. On moving back to London Chris began a successful career in Executive Search specializing in Senior Sales and Trading personnel in the FX and Interest Rate Markets. In 1999, seeing the burgeoning opportunity in the Telecommunications sector he along with two other entrepreneurs set up a business called Bluetel to service recruitment needs in this very specific market. Following the dotcom crash and second round investment from Gresham Trust, Chris restructured the business and set up Bluecare and Bluetec to focus on UK markets in Health and Social Care and Construction under a newly formed entity ’BlueGroup International’. Chris was immediately appointed to the Main Board. The business recovered rapidly until in 2006, it was sold in 2006 for a cash consideration of £16m. Chris has enjoyed considerable media exposure and has been interviewed on international recruitment issues by national newspapers, BBC Television, various radio broadcasters and various trade journals in the UK as well as a number of other countries.
